Glazing

Glazing is a finishing process that adds more depth to the finish. When doors are glazed, each door becomes unique. The process of glazing is done after the seal coat and prior to the top coat. The glazing is applied only to the face of the product. When selecting a glazed finish it is important to select a door and drawer profile that optimizes and enhances the appearance of the glazing. Many door styles are available and on display that are appropriate for glazing. Please talk to your sales person on which styles are better suited for this process.

Brakur Custom Cabinetry, Inc. offers glazing in two distinctly different methods; Standard glaze and Brushed glaze. Standard glaze is produced by covering the entire door with glaze and wiping off the excess with a dry cotton cloth, leaving the glaze build up in the details of the various profiles for doors, drawers, etc. This method will slightly vary the appearance of the original stain color and wood specie combination between the front and back side of the product.

The second type of glazing is referred to as Brushed glazing. This style is applied in the same manner as standard glazing; however, the glazing is wiped away with brushes leaving brush streaks on the panels and also on all flat stock. This method will significantly alter the appearance of the original stain color and wood specie combination, and causes the color to vary between the front and back side of the product.

Due to the unique characteristics of glazes and the application process, the appearance of the finished product could very well be different from a showroom or special made sample. The system does not allow for batch to batch identical matching.
